You have the option of signing up for the individual plan, which is great if you plan on selling 40 or less items per month, or the professional plan if you plan on selling more. With the individual plan, you pay a flat $0.99 selling fee per item sold, plus a referral fee in the 8%–15% range of the product's selling price. With the professional plan, you pay a flat $39.99/month with no per item selling fee, but still have to pay the referral fee.
I haven’t tried this method, but I’ve heard it does in fact work. I have tested it in theory and you can see that above. Basically, you are tricking the Amazon shopping cart system to give you free shipping even though you don’t match the threshold. See, Amazon gives free shipping on orders of $35 or more. One of the things I’ve done over the past two years is track the methods I use to make money with Amazon by tracking IDs as well as keeping track of other things I’ve done while building up my Amazon websites. It’s probably worth asking an account rep if you can add “nofollow” to those links and stay compliant. For SEO, it’s not worth worrying about probably. Google has said before that they handle things like this for affiliate programs on their end if the program is big enough (i.e. they have enough data to understand what is going on), and Amazon is the biggest in the world. That’s just my gut, though.

While many complain the rates are low, they do offer a progressive earnings structure on most general merchandise. The more you sell, the more you earn – from 4% to 8.5%. Amazon also has several “Bounty” opportunities where you can earn a set fee of $3 to $25 for referring people to sign up for Prime, Amazon Student, Audible, Baby & Wedding Registries and more.
